Pick Your Own Pumpkin patch & carving
Weekends from Sat 3rd October
Daily from Mon 19th October
Location: The Pumpkin Patch, Lower Drayton farm, Penkridge, Stafford.
Massive pumpkins, mini pumpkins, perfectly formed pumpkins, ‘monster’ pumpkins – we’ve got them all!
Get spooky season off to a great start with a visit to our pick your own pumpkin patch. We’ve planted over 30,000 pumpkin seeds of various variety so you can rest assured you’ll find your ‘perfect pumpkin’ match. Once you’ve picked your pumpkin and trundled it back across the field in your barrow, why not set up in our pumpkin carving tent and get creative (no mess to clean up at home!).
Take a selfie with your creations in our ‘Pumpkin photo booth’ for the chance to WIN a great prize!
There will be hot food provided by our good friends at Pear Tree Farm catering offering hot dogs and home made pumpkin soup, made from our pumpkins. Also soft drinks, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
PYO Pumpkin Event – £6 per person, including one pumpkin per person.
All members of your party will require a pre-booked ticket
No dogs allowed
Why not make a day of it and visit PLAY too, there is lots to do indoors and out, plus friendly animals to meet. Separate ticket required.
What’s in the price?
The ticket allocates you a space to visit the pumpkin patch during your chosen timeslot, entitles you to one pumpkin per person and to use the on-site carving facilities.
Do we all need a ticket, even if we don’t want a pumpkin?
Yes, due to session numbers being limited this year as part of our COVID-19 safety measures, everyone over 2 years of age will require a ticket. All tickets are the same price and include a pumpkin. If you don’t fancy carving it why not take it home and whip up a tasty soup or pumpkin pie? Our pumpkins are great for eating!
Can we bring our family dog?
No, sorry, no dogs on our pumpkin patch or carving area.
Will we be able to carve on site?
Yes we have a dedicated stretch tent offering space to carve your pumpkins on site – no mess at home!
Will there be a trailer ride?
No. The car park is located closer to the pumpkin patch this year, and this is reflected in the ticket price.
Are there toilet & hand washing facilities?
Our pumpkin event is field based, so please bear in mind there is no running water. There will be portable toilets situated near the carving tent and lots of hand gel for sanitising.
What about food?
There will be hot food provided by our good friends at Pear Tree Farm catering offering hot dogs and home made pumpkin soup, made from our pumpkins.
Also soft drinks, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
Do we need wellies?
This is an outdoor event based in a field – so we strongly suggest wellies or sturdy footwear and that you dress for the weather – including layers and waterproofs.
Do we get access to the playbarn?
No. PYO Pumpkins is a standalone event – however, you can purchase tickets to visit PLAY@ Lower Drayton Farm, with its indoor and outdoor play areas, farm trailer ride (weather dependent), friendly animals, maize trail and more separately.
Is the site wheelchair/pushchair friendly?
With the PYO Pumpkin Patch being based in a field with grass parking, access may be limited for wheelchairs and pushchairs. With young children we’d recommend bringing a baby sling or reins rather than the buggy (to avoid getting stuck). We will always do our best to accommodate all visitors with additional needs and will be situating some pumpkins in an area that is easy to access for them to ‘pick their own’. Disabled visitors and their carers can then carve their pumpkins together in the carving tent – however please bear in mind that excessive rain may make the site muddy and difficult to access.
